About Us

History

Perth Emmaus began in 1996, when members of the Australian Emmaus Community from many parts of Australia joined with people already living in Perth to begin Walk No.1 . These included the Canberra , Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Communities. These special people were so moved by their own Emmaus experience that they wanted people in Western Australia to experience the love of God in the way they did. They gladly paid their own expenses and camp fees so that no extra burden fell on the new Perth Emmaus Community. We in Perth Emmaus share their vision, believing that as you become a pilgrim and receive a blessing from the Walk to Emmaus in Perth, then you in turn will also be challenged to share God's love and grace with fellow Christians.

Since our first Walk over 800 pilgrims have been sponsored and are now in their Fourth Day. Perth Emmaus is the sponsoring community for Great Southern Emmaus . Perth also has its own Chrysalis Community, and are  working with Kairos to support them as they run their next Courses, both Inside and Outside, this year.

Gatherings are currently held every third Friday of the month. Walks are generally in May and October of each year. See our community email links for more information.
